The DIPLOMACHINE project seeks to create an aesthetic interface allowing access and engagement with diplomacy. Originally aimed at creating a ‘History of Aesthetics of Diplomacy’ the project aims to illustrate the cultural and creative dimensions of this rather gray counterpart to warfare and its spectacular representation in the media.
Driven by the realization that war typically provides more dramatic imagery while diplomacy often goes unnoticed, this project attempts to provide diplomacy with a visual surface and accessibility that corresponds to its importance, its peace-promoting effect, and its actual power. For this exhibition, pivotal scenes and scenarios from the history of diplomacy have been selected and recreated as key objects.
